Description

25 Newmarket is a 17th-century building, likely incorporating earlier work and featuring some alterations. It has two storeys and four windows on the first floor, which have flush frames and glazing bars. The building has a steep roof covered with pantiles and is rendered and painted. The early 19th-century shop front is canted and features a double bow design with a dentil cornice that extends across the central entrance, which now has only vertical glazing bars. There are remains of an overhanging first floor visible on the left side of the shop front and above the passageway. Newmarket is part of a significant central group of buildings surrounding the "island."
