Description
No. 23 in Newmarket is a 16th-century building that has been altered over time. It has two storeys and an attic, featuring one dormer. The exterior is made of red brick and includes four sash windows set in flush frames, which now only have center glazing bars. The windows are topped with flat arches, and the roof is covered with pantiles, complemented by a parapet. Inside, the main features include two or three original oak doors and a 16th-century ceiling on the first floor, which has a geometrical pattern enriched with fleur-de-lys and Tudor rose designs. Newmarket is part of a significant central group of buildings surrounding the "island."
