Description

The Crown & Anchor Hotel is an inn dating back to the 16th century, with additions and alterations made in the early 19th century. It is three storeys high and constructed with a timber frame, now plastered, and has a slate roof. Two internal chimney stacks are visible, built of red brick. The front facade has five windows, with small panes in flush frames; one window on the ground floor is tripartite. There are two entrance doors, each with six raised fielded panels, pilasters, and an entablature. The ground floor of the main range has exposed ceiling beams and joists across part of the area. The joists are plain, and set flat. The top storey is a 19th-century addition.
