Description
Olney Cottage is a house built around 1800, with a rear extension added in the late 20th century. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and has pantile roofs. The original front block is two storeys high and features two window bays. A central gabled porch leads to a timber door with six incised panels, accompanied by an early 19th-century lock and striking plate. There are sash windows on either side of the porch and two more on the upper floor, all with 6/6 glazing bars and exposed boxes. The eaves cornice is dentil below the gabled roof, and there are internal gable-end stacks. The rear extensions, also in colourwashed brick, are two storeys high and create an apparent double pile plan.
Inside, the ground floor has two main rooms separated by a plain single-flight staircase. Each room features six-panel doors with HL hinges. The south room contains a brick fireplace with a stilted arch, although the arch bar was replaced around 1989. The roof has also been replaced.
