Description

Brampton Old Hall is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 16th century, with a facade added in the mid-19th century and a wing added to the right in the mid-20th century. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a two-cell main range and a cross wing to the right. It is timber framed, featuring a white brick facade and modern roughcast render at the rear, topped with a pantiled roof. The structure is two storeys high with an attic.

The main range includes two windows that are mid-19th century casements designed in a 16th-century style. The ground floor features three-light mullion and transom windows with triangular stone pediments, while the first floor has two-light mullioned windows with drip moulds. Each window light has a single horizontal glazing bar. The entrance is positioned to the right and consists of an inset six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. This door is framed by an architrave with corner roundels and a triangular pediment.

The cross wing mirrors the main range with matching windows and has a mid-19th century crowstepped gable. Both the main range and the cross wing have internal stacks with four hexagonal flues arranged in a sawtooth pattern. The interior has been modernized. The building is located on the moated site of the manor of Hales Hall.
