Description
Sunnyside Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating to the late 16th century, with additions from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is an irregular-shaped building of two storeys, with parts having attics. The original timber-frame core is now encased in late 19th-century red brick, and the roof is tiled with clay pantiles. The house retains an internal chimney stack, partially rebuilt and rendered. The windows are largely 3-light casements, replacements from the 20th century, and the entrance is through a gabled brick porch. The house's development occurred in at least four distinct phases; variations in ceiling heights within the main range suggest differing dates of construction. This main range includes a blocked 5-light mullioned window and a main beam with a deep chamfer, pyramid stops, reversed braces, and some replacement of studding. 18th-century extensions to the house feature butt purlin roofs. The south-facing walls of these extensions display primary braces and bisected studs.
