Description
The building is a former stable block located 10 meters west of Westwood Lodge, dating from the late 15th century to early 16th century. It is now used for domestic storage. The structure is timber framed and weatherboarded, with red brick gable ends and a pantiled roof. It has two storeys and consists of seven bays. The south gable features a crowstepped design, with corbelled brickwork at the eaves that supports moulded brick pinnacles on square bases; the apex of the gable has an additional moulded brick pinnacle, with two of the pinnacles being incomplete. The roof includes an upper row of clasped purlins and a lower row of butt purlins, with arched wind bracing in between. The center bay shows evidence of a former internal axial stack, and there are diamond mullion window openings on the first floor, which are now boarded over.
