Description

Forge Cottage, dating from the early to mid-19th century, is a house constructed of painted brick with rendered gable ends, and covered by a slated roof. The front facade has three windows, featuring large-pane sash windows in flush frames, each with a segmental arch above. A central doorway has a six-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed, and a plain rectangular fanlight above, framed by an architrave with roundels in the corners, and a simple flat hood. A chimney stack is located on the left-hand side and likely dates from the 17th century or earlier; it incorporates stone originally from Blythburgh Priory. The boundary along Priory Road consists of wrought iron railings with spearhead tops, alongside a section of boundary walling built of flint and stone, with brick copings, extending approximately 9 metres to the west.
