Description

This barn, located immediately to the south of Home Farmhouse, dates from around 1700. It features a timber frame that is partly weatherboarded, partly filled with wattle and daub, and partly covered in corrugated iron sheeting. The roof is thatched. The frame includes bisected studs, primary braces, and middle rails that are set unusually low. There are arched braces supporting the tie-beams. The roof has two rows of stepped butt purlins, with the ends of the purlins trimmed. In the end bays of the roof, the rafters are bisected by straight braces, similar to the wall framing.
