Description
Fiddler's Hall is a farmhouse dating from the mid-16th century, with later additions and alterations, particularly an early 17th-century wing on the left side that is narrower and slightly set forward from the main range. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a plain tiled roof. It has two storeys and an attic in the main range. The windows are mostly large pane casements from the mid-20th century, with a boarded door for the main range and a half-glazed door for the left section. There is one gabled dormer.
Inside, the main range features an internal stack, with the lower part being original and having an inset rectangular panel. The three detached flues, which have moulded brick enrichment, were constructed in 1982 based on the original designs. The left section boasts a notable external stack with diapering in dark headers, along with two detached octagonal flues that also have moulded brick enrichment and linked star caps. The interior showcases good exposed timbering, several blocked mullion windows, a first-floor brick fireplace with a depressed four-centre arch, and original newel attic stairs. The building was under renovation at the time of the survey.
