Description
The Angel Hotel is a building that dates back to the 16th century, with additions and modifications from the 17th and 18th centuries. Originally timber framed, traces of this structure can still be seen on the left side and internally in that section of the inn. The building is two stories high with an attic and features three dormers. It is primarily constructed of brick and stucco, with rusticated detailing and fluted keys on the flat arches. The first floor has seven flush frame sash windows with glazing bars. There is a six-panel door topped with a Doric pediment. The hotel has a plinth and a slate roof, with an eaves cornice supported by widely spaced paired brackets. Inside, there are three notable Adam-type metal fanlights above the internal doors. The Angel Hotel, along with Nos 34, 35, and 36, forms a group.
