Description
Bowling Green Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century. It has a T-shaped plan with a two-cell main range and a formerly detached rear service wing, both from the same period. The building is timber framed, primarily plastered, with some areas featuring roughcast render. The roof is mostly covered with pantiles, except for the front slope of the main range, which is plaintiled. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with two mid-20th century three-light casement windows that incorporate older opening lights. There is a lobby entrance with a six-panel door, where the upper two panels are glazed, and it features a moulded architrave. An internal stack is present, and the main range was modernised in the 19th century. The service wing contains an unusually intact dairy and a first-floor cheese loft, showcasing exposed framing, original stairs, partitions, and floorboarding. The cheese loft has slatted windows with internal hinged shutters.
