Description
No. 11 Double Street is a house that was formerly a house and shop, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is two storeys high, constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior, topped with a slate roof and featuring a paired bracketed cornice. The building has an internal chimney stack with a plain red brick shaft.
On the upper storey, there are five large-paned sash windows, each with ornate bracketed wedge lintels. On the left side of the ground floor, there is a larger fixed replacement window that also has a similar lintel. To the right, there is a former shop front that features paired small-paned sash windows and a pair of wide double doors. This shop front is topped by a continuous moulded fascia board supported by panelled pilasters. The original shop door has been replaced with a long semi-circular-headed small-paned window that includes radiating glazing bars.
The entrance doorway to the house is located on the extreme left and is accessed by steps. It features a heavy plain entablature supported by ornate console brackets and a recessed six-panelled door, with the top two panels being glazed.
