Description
Low Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 16th century. It was extended to the west in the 19th century, creating an L-shaped plan, with the eaves of the older section raised at this end. The earlier part of the building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a pantiled roof. On the north side, there are plaster panels featuring ropework pargetted infilling, and further panels have been revealed internally on what was once the outside wall. The 19th-century wing is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a plaintiled roof. The building has two storeys and features three windows on the 19th-century facade, which include original small-paned casements set beneath segmental arches, along with a mid-20th century glazed door. Other windows are mid-20th century casements, and there is a boarded half-door on the south side. Each range has an internal stack. Inside, some framing and joists are exposed, and much of the original floorboarding remains. There is evidence of two diamond-mullioned windows at the first-floor level.
