Description
Cowton House is a farmhouse dating from the mid 17th century to early 18th century, featuring a timber-framed core and a facade made of gault brick. The building is designed in an L shape and has a red brick and plain tiled hipped and gabled roof at the front. It stands two storeys high and has a three-window range on the entrance front, with casement windows set in flush frames that include glazing bars. The windows are topped with gauged brick flat arches.
The entrance porch is positioned in antis and is decorated with plain pilasters, panelled returns, and a semi-circular head. The door is a six-panelled design with a semi-circular fanlight above, which also has glazing bars; this doorway is likely a modern addition. The other side of the building features scattered fenestration with additional casement windows that also have glazing bars.
