Description

This is an 18th-century, narrow, timber-framed house located at 23 Cumberland Street. The front is partly weatherboarded and partly plastered, with a brick plinth. The roof is tiled with pantiles. The house features a single sash window with glazing bars and a flush frame. A three-panel door, with the top panel containing glazing bars, is set within a wooden case featuring pilasters and a pediment, flanked by sash windows with glazing bars. The house was formerly occupied by the Quaker poet, Barton. It forms a group with numbers 23 to 31 (odd). NMR photographs exist.
