Description
The Old Vicarage is a house located on High Street in Yoxford. It likely has a core dating from the 16th century and was remodeled and extended in the 18th century. The building is timber framed and plastered, with the plasterwork designed to imitate ashlar. It features a plain tiled roof with crest tiles.
The house has two storeys and an attic. The facade includes sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames, with five on the ground floor and three on the first floor. There is a wooden eaves modillion cornice and three shallow-pedimented dormers. The house has one internal stack and one external stack on the north gable.
At the rear, there is a doorway set in a mid-18th century colorwashed brick extension. This features a six-panel door with a reeded architrave, a semi-circular portico supported by slender fluted columns and half-round pilasters, and a reeded frieze with a modillion cornice. A flight of four steps leads up to the door. To the right of the doorway, there is a semi-circular headed staircase window. The south gable of the house has a full-height splayed bay, and between the windows on this gable are re-used bands of pargetting that were added in the early 20th century.
