Description
The Red House is a farmhouse dating from around the 18th century, with an early 19th-century front range and a rear wing, forming an L shape. The front range is constructed of red brick with plain tiles, while the rear wing features red brick and black pantiles. The front range has two storeys and an attic, while the rear wing is one storey with an attic.
The front range has three windows, which are sashes set in recessed frames with glazing bars and are topped with gauged brick arches. There are three dormers with casement windows that also have glazing bars. The entrance features a prostyle portico supported by Doric columns and an entablature, leading to a six-panelled door that is raised and fielded, complete with an architrave and a rectangular fanlight. The gable ends of the building have brick stacks made of red brick and are parapeted.
The rear wing displays scattered fenestration with casement windows that have glazing bars and segmental brick arches, along with four dormers featuring casements with glazing bars. There is a 20th-century boarded door and a red brick stack located on the ridge. Inside, some timber framing is present.
