Description
Centre Cliff is a 2-storey house located on South Green in Southwold, originally built in 1829 as part of Centre Cliff House, which included Nos 1 and 2 Centre Cliff. After suffering war damage, it was subdivided and rebuilt at the rear in 1949. The house was commissioned by Reverend Thomas Sheriffe and is constructed of gault brick, featuring cast-iron balcony railings and a slate roof with a brick stack on the rear slope.
The front of the house has three bays, with pilaster strips providing articulation. In the central bay, there are French doors with glazing bars, while to the right is a French window and to the left is a 6/6 unhorned sash window. On the first floor, the central French doors open onto a cantilevered balcony with an ornamental balustrade. The flanking windows on this level are also 6/6 unhorned sashes. All openings are topped with painted gauged skewback arches. The interior has not been inspected.
