Description

No. 240 High Street is a mill house dating from the early 19th century, with a likely earlier core. It features white brick construction with plasterwork at the rear and a slated roof. The building has three storeys on the front and two storeys at the back. The symmetrical facade includes pilasters at the corners, three windows with small pane sashes set beneath flat brick arches, and a doorway with a six-panel raised and fielded door, where the upper two panels are glazed. This doorway is flanked by sunk pilasters and topped with an entablature that has a dentilled pedimented cornice. Above the doorway is a tall semi-circular headed sash window that spans the two upper floors. Attached to the right side of the house is a watermill.
