Description

The White House is a late 18th-century house with two early 19th-century extensions to the rear. It is located in South Entrance, Saxmundham. The front of the house is painted brick, while the right return is rendered and whitewashed. It has a slate roof with a central ridge stack. The building is arranged with a lobby entrance.

The front elevation has a four-window facade. The front door is situated to the left of the centre and features six fielded panels within a doorcase with pilasters, a frieze, and a pediment. The ground-floor windows are sash windows with 8/8 glazing bars, while the first-floor windows are sash windows with 4/8 glazing bars; a blind window sits above the entrance door. A dentil eaves cornice runs along the top of the front elevation. The right return has a gable wall with a six-panelled door, which has glazed panels at the top, contained within a doorcase of panelled pilasters topped with a flat hood. The first floor and attic each have a 20th-century casement window. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
