Description
Nos 40 to 42 Market Hill is a building dating from 1692, located on the west side of Market Hill. It is constructed of red brick and stands three storeys tall, featuring five windows, including a prominent three-light Palladian window at the center. The second floor has an enriched band, and there is a dentil cornice below the parapet, which is topped with a central gable and ball finials. The sash windows have gauged flat arches and fluted keys at the first floor. The ground floor has a shop front with a wooden case, and the building is topped with a slate roof. This property is included for its group value, as it forms part of a larger group with Nos 40 to 44 Market Hill.
