Description
Westgate House is an early 19th-century building located on Westgate Street in Long Melford. The house features a grey gault brick front that was added to an earlier structure and is characterized by end pilasters. It has two storeys and a seven-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars set in shallow reveals. The central three-window section projects slightly forward and is topped with an open pediment that contains a bulls eye window in the tympanum. The entrance features a central six-panel door with panelled reveals, framed by a wooden doorcase that has a rusticated surround, a keystone, and a pediment above. The roof is primarily slate, with some tiled sections at the rear, and is hipped at both the east and west ends.
