Description

Scutchers Cottages is a terrace of six early 19th century timber-framed houses located on the north side of Westgate Street, Long Melford. The cottages were built to house workers in a local flax industry, specifically those involved in scutching flax. The terrace is divided into two blocks, each two storeys high and six windows wide. The front elevation is weatherboarded, and the windows are double-hung sashes with single vertical glazing bars. The roofs are covered with slate.
