Description
The Willows is a Georgian red brick house, dating from around 1750, which features a refronting of a medieval timber-framed structure. It is similar in style and date to No 81 on Church Street in Lavenham. The building has a stuccoed parapet with a modillion cornice on the front, as well as the north-east and south-west sides. It stands two storeys high with attics and has a three-window range of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The outer sections of the house have two-storey splayed bays with three windows, separated by pilasters. The central part of the façade projects slightly and includes a Venetian window with "Gothic" arched glazing bars in the upper panes, topped by an open pediment. The entrance features a central six-panel door with a semi-circular fanlight that has ornamental glazing. This door is framed by an impressive wood doorcase with deep panelled reveals, fluted pilasters with enriched capitals, and an open pediment adorned with fret dentils. The roof is tiled and hipped behind the parapet, featuring four modern hipped dormers, two of which are on the front.
