Description

The War Memorial at St Mary's Church is a Grade II listed structure built in 1920 by A.A. Hunt and C.L. Coates of Bury St Edmunds. Constructed from Clipsham ashlar, this memorial stands 16 feet high on a stepped base. The main block tapers with smaller blocks above it. On the side facing St Mary's Church, it features the names of those who fell in both World Wars, while the opposite side displays a carved roundel in relief depicting St George and the Dragon. There are inscriptions and dates on the ends of the memorial. This impressive and well-designed structure forms a group with the Church of St Mary.
