Description
The stables and cartlodge located approximately metres northwest of St Mary's Hospital date from the 18th to 19th century. They are constructed from red brick with flint facing and feature grey slate roofs. The building is single storey and has an L-shaped plan, with a six-bay cartlodge extending east from the northern corner. It has red brick quoins and dark flint diamond panels situated between the window and door openings and below the gable windows. The stable range includes four semi-circular windows with ray tracery, red brick arches, and painted keystones. There is a similar blocked window on the cartlodge gable end and another window in a timber surround beneath the stable eaves. The stable door is topped with a fanlight that matches the design of the other windows. This building is included for its group value.
