Description
Prync's Lodge is a house with origins likely dating back to the 16th century, significantly remodeled in the 17th century, and extended in 1880 and later in the 20th century. The building is timber framed, rendered, and has a plaintile roof that is gabletted to the left and hipped to the right. Originally designed with a two-cell lobby entrance plan, the entrance has been blocked and replaced by a window. The house is two storeys high and features three 20th-century timber casements on both the ground and first floors. There is a mid-17th century axial brick stack with four partly engaged rectangular shafts. To the left, there is a one-storey addition from the 1880s that includes the current front door, while a 20th-century lean-to is located to the right, along with a rear extension.
Inside, there is a ladder stair where the former stairs to the front of the stack used to be. The 17th-century brick stack retains its original bressummer. There are two fireplaces on the first floor, each with brick cambered arches. The left-hand return on the ground floor has a blocked diamond mullion window. The bridging beams are carved in a Jacobean style, featuring formal and abstract designs, with one beam on the left inscribed with "Honor the Prync."
