Description
Woodgates Farmhouse is a farmhouse that features a cross wing likely dating from the later 16th century, with the hall range rebuilt in the 17th century. There have been later alterations and extensions to the rear. The building is timber-framed and rendered, topped with a plain tile roof and red brick stacks. It has two storeys, with the cross range being lower. The main range has a lobby-entry plan and consists of three window bays. A large 19th-century porch with a hipped roof contains double doors flanked by 4-pane sash windows. The front has 20th-century cross casements throughout. There is an off-centre stack and another external offset stack at the rear, with the upper part rebuilt. Inside, much of the framing is concealed. In the main range, there are a pair of jowled posts and a rear wall plate with diamond mullion mortices. The cross wing has a clasped purlin roof and is said to have some brick nogging.
