Description
The Pound is a house that dates from the 16th to 17th century, with a 19th-century wing on the left and 20th-century alterations. It features a timber-framed structure that is rendered, with a red brick stack. The 19th-century wing is made of red brick with some dark brick headers, and it has a plain tile roof. The building is a single-storey and attic range with a gabled jettied cross wing on the left and a two-storey brick addition.
The cross wing has a half-glazed door and a jettied first floor, along with a three-light 20th-century casement window and bargeboards on the gable. There is a 24-pane fixed window with a single opening light in the hall, and the end of a beam protrudes at floor level. To the right, there are more 20th-century casements and an additional door. The building also has two gabled dormers with 20th-century windows, a small 20th-century ridge stack to the right, and a sawtooth stack between the cross wing and the hall.
The brick range features three-light windows under segmental arches, with two replaced 16-pane sashes in flush architraves above. At the rear of the hall range, there are large gabled wall dormers. A 20th-century extension with a pent roof has also been added. Inside, the hall has a somewhat rebuilt inglenook, along with chamfered beams and exposed joists.
