Description

Church Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and further changes in the 20th century. It is timber-framed, with a rendered front elevation and a rear extension clad in weatherboard. The roof is thatched with a red brick stack. The house is one storey high with an attic, originally comprising three rooms. A 20th-century tiled timber porch sits to the right of centre, containing a glazed door and a three-light casement window. To the right is a mullion window with leaded lights, and a canted bay with casement windows is to the left. A gabled dormer with a two-light casement window is visible. A ridge stack is present. The roof is hipped to the right. Two further gabled dormers are located at the rear. Inside, exposed framing is visible, along with beamed ceilings and exposed joists. The hall was originally open, but was floored over and a stack was inserted in the 17th century. According to the owner, a smoke-blackened common rafter roof was revealed during renovations.
