Description
The Little Cottage is a small cottage dating from the late 18th century. It features a rendered and whitewashed timber frame, with weatherboarding on the rear gable. The roof is made of corrugated sheets, and there is a brick central ridge stack. The cottage has a compact two-unit plan measuring approximately 5 meters by 3 meters and is single storey with an attic. The gable faces the front, with a two-light casement window on the ground floor and a door to the right, along with another two-light casement window above. There is also a two-light casement window on the left side. The right side has a small lean-to extension with a stack, and there are various casements and a door at the rear.
Inside, a bridging beam is visible in the main room, with joists in the kitchen behind, where there is a tiny winder stair. Some framing can be seen on the stair and in the attic, and there are plank doors. This cottage is an unusual example of a particularly small dwelling, and its location on the edge of a green suggests it may have originally served as a squatter's cottage.
