Description

The Old Guildhall is a 15th-century timber-framed and plastered building, originally the Guildhall, located on the south side of The Street in Monks Eleigh. The building features a two-storeyed cross wing with a jettied upper storey projecting at its east end, and has a tiled roof. The main block now functions as a workshop. A range of outbuildings extends westward, culminating in a gabled wing at the west end. Casement windows are present throughout. The ground storey beneath the jettied cross wing incorporates an 18th-century splayed bay. A six-panel door is featured, along with a decorated frieze. Internally, the building retains notable features including a crown post roof.
