Description
Appletree Cottage and Jubilee Cottage are two dwellings that were originally one house, dating from the 16th century or earlier, with later alterations and additions. The building is mainly timber framed and plastered, with brick infill on the ground floor of the right range and some exposed timber framing. It features large, off-centre chimney stacks on the left and external right of the right range. The house is two storeys high, with a crosswing on the left that jetties out, supported by central and right brackets. The gable apex of this crosswing is dated 1577, and the end of the centre purlin is visible, indicating a crown post roof. The side girt of the right range is also visible, along with wall studs that have straight bracing, and there is a possible blocked window to the left below the side girt. The building has a 1:2 window arrangement with various casements, and a centre purlin extends to the crosswing gable apex, further suggesting a crown post roof.
