Description
Dresden Cottage is a timber-framed house with origins dating back to the 15th century. It was originally part of a Wealden house, along with Nos 6 and 8, and features a hall that was jettied out to match the wings when a floor was added in the 16th to 17th centuries. The building has two storeys, with the upper storey jettied across the entire front, showcasing exposed joists. The ground storey is finished in brick and plaster. There are two window ranges, featuring old leaded casements on the upper storey and 18th-century double-hung sashes with glazing bars on the ground storey. A central 20th-century glazed door provides access. The roof is covered with old tiles. The house underwent renovation in the 20th century, during which the timber framing on the upper storey was revealed. It is graded for its composite group interest.
