Description
Church Farmhouse is a former farmhouse, now used as a workshop and store, dating from the 17th century and possibly a remodelling of an earlier house. The building is constructed of red brick, partly colourwashed, with a timber frame at the south end. It features a steeply pitched black glazed pantile roof and has two storeys plus an attic.
The east facade is colourwashed and has three 3-light casements with a transom on the first floor, which are irregularly spaced. There are two ground floor sashes with glazing bars at the north-east corner and a large 20th-century double door opening off-centre in the east wall. A 3-light casement and a doorway are located at the south-east. The roof includes three gabled dormers with 2-light casements and a large central axial stack. The north gable is shaped and features iron letters E and M flanking circular attic windows, along with a two-course platband at the gable base. There are two square first floor openings that have been blocked, and moulded eaves corbels are present.
Internally, the chimney stack has been capped off, and the south gable is timber framed, much patched and rebuilt. An attic window has an iron casement, and there is an external chimney stack with weathered offsets on the west side. A gabled two-storey projection is located on the west wall opposite the stack, with a lean-to at the south-west corner. The west wall between the projections is timber framed with brick nogging. The interior features tie beams with quadrant moulding, although the centre section of the first floor has been removed.
