STOCKTON CHURCH ROAD TM 39 SE 7/88 Church Farmhouse 25-9-51

GV II Former farmhouse, now workshop and store. C17; possibly a remodelling of an earlier house. Red brick, partly colourwashed; timber frame at south end. Steeply pitched black glazed pantile roof. Two storeys and attic. East facade colourwashed: three 3-light first floor casements with transom, irregularly spaced. Two ground floor sashes with glazing bars at north-east corner. Large C20 double door opening off-centre in east wall. 3-light casement and doorway to south-east. Three gabled dormers with 2-light casements. Large central axial stack. Shaped north gable with iron letters E and M flanking circular attic windows. Two-course platband at gable base. Two square first floor openings blocked. Moulded eaves corbels. Internal chimney stack capped off. South gable timber framed much patched and rebuilt. Attic window with iron casement. External chimney stack with weathered offsets on west side. Gabled two-storey projection on west wall opposite stack; lean-to at south-west corner. West wall between projections timber framed with brick nogging. Interior: tie beams with quadrant moulding; centre section of first floor removed.
