Description
Walnut Tree House, located on Hingham Bond Street, is a house dating from the 18th century or earlier. It features a roughcast exterior and a steep gable-ended roof covered with black-glazed pantiles. The building has two storeys and an attic, with three windows in total. There are two large two-storeyed splayed bays with sash windows that have glazing bars, along with a central sash window on the first floor. The entrance is marked by a central lattice porch with a tent-shaped roof, and it has fielded panel double doors set within a pilastered doorcase topped with a cornice. The house also includes three gabled dormers. At the rear, there is a long wing that has a steep pantile roof and a brick-coped gable end, likely dating from the early 18th century or earlier. Inside, there is an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters and a brick chimney stack.
