Description
The Old Rectory, built in 1715, features a brick structure with a pantiled roof and is located on the north side of Colney Watton Road. The building has two storeys and an attic, comprising three bays. There is a one-storey off-centre porch with a shaped gable. The ground floor showcases skewback arches with rubbed brick voussoirs, sash windows with thin glazing bars, and a three-course plat-band. The roof includes three gabled dormer windows with shaped barge boards and casements, along with curvilinear main gables. The front door, dating from around 1800, has raised and fielded panels and a fanlight with glazing bars. At the rear, there is an ornate timber weatherboarded extension from 1891, marked with the initials B and P (Boulton and Paul). This extension is canted in plan and features French doors and casement windows with subdivided upper sections, supported by two arched braces at the eaves, and topped with a turned ridge finial.
