Description
The Church of St Mary is a parish church dating from the 12th and 13th centuries, with later additions. It is constructed of flint rubble with stone and some red brick dressings, and features a rendered chancel with a lead roof, while the north transept has a tiled roof. The church comprises a nave, chancel, north transept, west tower, and south porch.
The nave includes two 2-light windows with Y tracery and brick drip moulds, and there is a traceried window in the north transept. The west tower is supported by diagonal buttresses and has a stair turret at the north-east corner, belfry windows, and a crenellated brick parapet. Inside the porch, the south door features a 2-centred arch with brick quoins and a stepped gable, along with a niche above the outer arch. Although the interior was not inspected during the re-survey, it is noted to contain an octagonal font and a rood screen with ogee-leaded lights.
