Description

These are two 18th-century buildings located on Market Hill. Number 8 has three windows and a higher roofline than Number 9, which has two windows. The roofs are covered in pantiles, with some sections renewed on the right-hand side. The walls are a mix of brick, stucco, and colourwashed surfaces. The first floor windows are casement windows with glazing bars. On the right side of Number 8, the ground floor windows have mullion and transom detailing. The ground floor of Number 9 features a central four-panel door enclosed in a wooden casing with a decorative segmental fanlight and a pediment hood, along with display windows on either side with brick jambs. Number 8 has a slate-roofed lean-to extension projecting further than the main building, with brick jambs and a central entrance. The rear of Number 9 is connected to a building located at 2A St Nicholas Street. Numbers 1A, 1B, 1C, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 are grouped together.
