GV II

Stable and shed. Probably of 1720's (incomplete date), remodelled mid C19. Shed mid C19. Red brick with black glazed pantile roof. Some clapboarding. 2-bay stable and tack room with hay loft over, part dovecote, extended and slightly lowered. Various stable and loft panelled and boarded doors and window to left. Right end has part-glazed door to tack room, and the shed extending to right with doors and red pantile roof. The tumbling-in of the gable was truncated by the renewal of the roof in the mid C19. Below this the flight holes appear to read 172-- with an oculus in the centre. INTERIOR. Former gable end of C18 stable divides stabling into 2 units. Spinal bridging beams. Loose boxes with iron corner mangers and floors with blue stable paviours. At first floor the dovecote is separated from the loft by a stud partition with a heavy jointed doorframe dividing the tie beam. Mid C19 roof of dovetailed collars and wedge-tenoned butt purlins. This dated building retains features from both periods of its construction and also forms a group with Quorn House (qv). Included for group value.
