Description
No. 7 Market Place is a house dating from the early 19th century, with a core that is probably older. It is constructed of painted brick and features a low-pitched slate roof with a crow-stepped gable end. The building has gault brick chimney stacks and stands two storeys high with three tall sash windows that have glazing bars and flat rubbed brick arches. The central doorway is set in an elliptical-headed opening, complete with an elliptical arched fanlight featuring radial bars, pilastered jambs, and a fielded-panel door. The corners of the building are accentuated by pilasters. The gable end is faced with red brick and includes a datestone that reads "R.P. 1843". At the rear, there is an early 19th-century painted brick wing that is three storeys tall, topped with a low-pitched slate hipped roof that has a wide cornice supported by paired modillion brackets. This wing contains two sash windows with glazing bars.
