Description
The White Hart Hotel is a public house dating from the 17th century, featuring an early 19th-century plastered front that includes a parapet, a heavy cornice, and a rusticated ground floor. The building has two storeys and seven windows, with three of the windows on the right set back slightly and supported by two large buttresses. The window openings are segmental headed, adorned with moulded bands arched over the heads and keyblocks. The sashes do not have glazing bars. To the right of centre, there is a large open porch supported by Tuscan columns and an entablature, which also features a heavy modillion cornice. On the far right, there is a plain flat-headed carriageway. The left four bays of the building are the original 17th-century structure, topped with a steeply pitched pantile roof with gable ends. The eight head three bays are from the 18th or 19th century, with a lower pitched pantile roof. At the rear, there is a long 18th-century painted brick wing that is two storeys high and also has a pantile roof. Inside, the building features chamfered ceiling beams.
