Description
13 and 15 Damgate Street are a pair of houses, currently used as houses and shops, dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of whitewashed brick and feature a pantile roof. The buildings are two storeys high and have a central arch that leads to a passage at the rear. The south side is timber-framed and reuses timber roof joists.
Number 13 has a central 20th-century door with a 20th-century casement window on either side. The first floor is lit by two 18th-century two-light casements set under segmental arches. Number 15 features a 20th-century door to the left of a fixed late 18th-century window with glazing bars. There is also a late 18th-century three-light casement window on the first floor, which has a segmental head. The roof is gabled with an internal gable-end stack on the south side. The rear of the building has weatherboarding above the passage arch, and there are two tall gabled dormers in the roof; the dormer on the north side (number 13) has a 20th-century casement, while the other dormer has a boarded window.
Inside, there is a chamfered bridging beam on the ground floor and a rebuilt fireplace on the south side. The first floors have not been inspected.
