Description

The gates and adjoining railings at the entrance to Shotesham Park date from around 1790 and are likely associated with Sir John Soane. The structure features iron railings set on a gault brick base. It consists of a two-leaf gate flanked by symmetrical sections of curving railings that have an ogee shape in plan. The spear-shaped railings are complemented by a similar dog rail. The gate piers are of a cage type, featuring lozenge-shaped bars and scrolled overthrows.
