Description
Nos 7 and 9 in Old Market Place are early 19th century or late 18th century buildings. They feature a red brick front and a slate roof with gable ends and overhanging eaves. The buildings are two storeys high with an attic and have three sash windows with glazing bars and rubbed flat brick arches. There are two doorways, each with moulded wood cases, cornices, small rectangular fanlights, and panelled doors. No 9 includes what was once a small shop window, which has a fluted pilaster and cornice but now has modern glazing. The attic has a casement window with leaded panes in the gable end. The side wall is roughcast, and there is a lower two-storey timber-framed wing at the rear, which has sash windows and a pantile roof, along with stop-chamfered beams inside.
