Description
The Ashes is a 17th to 18th century house that was refashioned in the mid-19th century. It is encased in buff-coloured brick and features chamfered quoins. The house has a slated roof with gabled ends and is two storeys tall, with three bays. The windows are sashes with glazing bars and cornices supported by console brackets. A central two-storeyed brick porch has splayed corners and a glazed and panelled door, also with a cornice on console brackets. A large central chimney stack made of buff-coloured brick is prominent. Inside, there are chamfered ceiling beams. At the rear, there is a 17th century timber-frame wing that has been encased in buff brick, with the interior showcasing exposed timber-framing and chamfered ceiling beams.
