Description
The Croft is a farmhouse, now without a farm, dated 1615 and altered in the 18th century. It features a south extension from the 18th century and is constructed of brick and flint with pantile roofs. The original 17th-century block is one storey with a dormer attic. On the east side, there is one 20th-century window on the ground floor and an early 19th-century leaded casement under the eaves, which lights an internal half storey. The wall here has a 19th-century brick facing with a flint core. The building has a gabled roof with a gabled dormer that is lit by a 20th-century casement. Below the dormer is a re-set stone plaque that reads: Robert Gillyans XXII Mayie 1615. Inside, there is a stack at the south gable end. The north gable wall is made of flint, while the south gable head is weatherboarded. The rear of the building lacks a brick skin and features one 20th-century French window and two 20th-century casements. The lower 18th-century extension abuts the south gable and is one storey with an attic, built of brick with a pantile roof and includes 20th-century details.
