Description

The Church of St. Lawrence is a parish church located in Brundall, dating back to the 13th century. It has been extended and restored around 1900, with further modifications made to the west in the late 20th century. The church is constructed from flint with stone dressings and features slate roofs.

The layout includes a west nave extension, a north aisle with a double depth plan, a south porch, a north vestry, and a chancel. The west extension has a re-set two-light west window with 'Y' tracery and a two-light south window. The north aisle, added around 1900, consists of three bays with a two-light window, buttresses, and parapets. The south porch, built in the 19th century, is designed in the Early English style. The original 13th-century nave has two bays, a western south door, and a single light 19th-century window. There is a diagonal buttress at the west end to the south and a double arched bellcote on the west parapet gable. The south wall has been raised in brick and is supported by a buttress next to the porch.

The 19th-century lean-to vestry has two bays, while the chancel is a single bay with 19th-century windows and diagonal buttresses. It features a one-light south window and a three-light east window in the Perpendicular style, along with parapet gables. The interior is primarily from the 19th century, and it includes a 13th-century lead font bowl decorated with the Crucifixus and a knot of fleur-de-lis alternating around the circular bowl. The church is listed as Grade II* for its font, although the west wing is not of special interest.
