Description
The Gables is a house dated 1746, constructed of red brick with a pantiled roof. It has two storeys, a continuous rear outshut, and a single-storey wing to the north. The facade features four bays arranged in an a.b.b.a pattern, with a flint plinth and a platband at the first-floor level. The ground floor has 19th-century casement windows in the existing openings, with windows featuring transoms and segmental brick arches. The outer windows have three lights, while the inner windows have two lights. The building has brick dentil eaves and platbands on the gable walls at the attic floor level, along with Dutch gables, tie irons, and internal end stacks. The interior is mainly from the 19th century, but includes chamfered bridging beams with ogee stops. A central date stone at the first-floor level is inscribed with "P.W.S., 1746."
